To kick off the year, Palmoil.io will host a webinar (Wednesday January 28 8am EST - sign up here) to lay out some of the bigger themes that we see shaping the year. We have titled this year “Choices and Consequences”, because 2025 was a year where decisions - such as another EUDR delay - were made.

In 2026, we will explain the consequences of this and other decisions for companies, for lawmakers, and of course, for forests.

We will also share our preliminary analysis on 2025 deforestation rates and grievances and take a deeper dive into trends in the Aceh landscape and give you insight into our priorities for the year. Please join us by sign up again is here.

Three new team members!

We are incredibly pleased to welcome three new staff members to MapHubs. Agesti and Wahyu to our Jakarta team as Junior Data Analysts and Juliana joins our global team as a Project Coordinator.

Agesti

Agesti

Agesti Tri Putriningsih, known as Ages, is a recent Oceanography graduate from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB). Ages brings her enthusiasm for analytical, data-driven work, particularly in spatial analysis to MapHubs. During her studies, she was involved in multiple GIS mapping projects, which shaped her interest in the interaction between ocean and land systems. Ages’ other interests also include natural hazards such as tsunamis and tidal flooding and their impacts on coastal communities. Outside of work, she enjoys staying active through running, swimming, diving, and hiking.

Wahyu

Wahyu

Wahyu is a GIS Analyst with over three years of experience and a bachelor’s degree from Universitas Amikom Yogyakarta. Wahyu’s work ranges from research assistance to applied geospatial analysis in remote and collaborative settings, always with the aim of turning spatial data into insights that matter. Outside professional work, he enjoy making maps both seriously and for fun, exploring ideas like coffee shop suitability for my own definition of a good ‘work-from-café spot’, or mapping haunted and unusual places!

Juliana

Juliana

Juliana Acevedo is an Operations and Project Coordinator supporting remote teams, improving workflows, and keeping projects organized and on track. With a background in creative coordination and a people-first approach to project management, she enjoys helping teams bring structure to complex work — especially within distributed, international teams.

Originally from the mountains near Medellín, Colombia, Juliana developed an early connection to nature that later deepened through creative, site-specific performance work in Barcelona exploring the relationship between people and their environments. She’s excited to contribute to MapHubs’ sustainability-focused mission and help strengthen the systems that support the people behind it.

What’s coming up?

New plot data

At the end last year, we added over 700 new plots to our database as well as updated a ownership information. This included new plots for countries such as Liberia, Cameroon, and Malaysia. Next month, we will be add more plots from additional countries and adding updated group information. This will bring Palmoil.io's traceability to plantation capability to a truly global scope. Whether you source from Colombia, Sabah, Nigeria, or Thailand, we can trace it to the plantation.

Tip of the month: Instant stats

Instant stats and counts

This is our founder Leo’s favorite new(ish) feature. If you are filtering a table in Palmoil.io, you can now get instant percentages and counts for results. For example, if you want find out how many grievances resulted in suspension, filter the table by selecting "suspended" and click the filter button. The table will filter to only suspended grievances and display the results above (see example). You can combine multiple filters such as filtering "issues", so you can see only suspensions for human rights violations. You can try this using EUDR/NDPE Risk risk ratings or any table of data.

This is a very handy tool for digging deeper into your supply chain, breaking down your risk exposure by topic, status, or date. Please give it a go!
