What’s new?
Leo and Kris goes to Jakarta
Fresh from Bangkok, Thailand, after attending RSPO RT2024, Leo and Kris joined the entire team at our Jakarta office. Moments like these are always exciting, as we so rarely get the chance to collaborate in person. With so many projects running, it was wonderful to share ideas face-to-face and tap into the team’s collective capacity. This visit was especially thrilling, as we had plenty to update Leo and Kris on—new team members, a new office location, and all the progress we've made.
Together, we took a moment to reflect on the past year: celebrating achievements, addressing challenges, and brainstorming goals and milestones for the year ahead. We also tested some soon-to-launch features and conducted a walkthrough of our latest software updates. But it wasn’t all business! We made time for fun as well. A memorable trip to Bandung with our families included visits to historic landmarks like the Bandung City Museum and the Asian African Conference Museum. And, as always, we bonded over incredible meals—because nothing brings us together like great food and great company!
Palmoil.io NGO Dialogue in Bogor
Palmoil.io had the privilege of hosting an NGO Dialogue at Hotel Grand Savero in Bogor. This gathering provided an excellent opportunity to reconnect with our friends from NGOs working on palm oil across Indonesia. We caught up on their work over the past year and learned how they’ve been using Palmoil.io to support their efforts.
During the session, we introduced them to our newest features, ensuring they were familiar with updates that could enhance their work. We also showcased upcoming tools, such as the jurisdictional landscape dashboard, which has the potential to significantly benefit their projects. Breakout sessions focused on smallholders and explored how the dashboard could advance their initiatives. To provide a hands-on experience, we worked through several real-life deforestation cases, allowing participants to test the dashboard themselves.
Additionally, we discussed the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), exchanging perspectives on its implications, especially in light of the recent delay announced just the day before. Overall, the dialogue was highly productive, cultivating valuable discussions and strengthening our collaboration for the year ahead.
What’s coming up?
Jurisdictional Landscape Dashboard launches soon
We are enhancing our database with a new Jurisdictional Landscape Dashboard. This addition will allow us to analyze district, province, and even village data, specifically focusing on palm oil-related deforestation and future deforestation risks. These risks will be assessed using metrics such as proximity to remaining forests and other key indicators. Subscribers will still have access to all current map layers, along with the ability to filter data using our risk metrics table.
This improvement will also assist in identifying regions that have achieved or are near compliance with EUDR requirements. Additionally, you will gain access to VDF/NDPE assessments, GHG emissions data, and peat layer information. This feature will help subscribers identify both low and high risk landscapes, further their research, and direct field investigations effectively. By offering a comprehensive view of major actors within a landscape, the dashboard aims to provide a deeper understanding of key dynamics in the region.

Understanding the EUDR
No Risk Exemption Dropped but 1-year delay likely
The European People's Party agreed to drop the proposed No Risk Country exemption. This paves the way for the one year delay to be be agreed.
While we believe the delay puts our customers that were already EUDR-ready at a disadvantage, there is still a lot of preparation to do. Don’t wait until this time next year, start your preparations now.
This is especially important because the latest guidance (that we mentioned in last month’s newsletter) shifts a lot of the work from the Article 9 verification-check to your risk assessment and risk mitigation procedures. You may not need to submit a new DDS for each shipment, and you don’t need to monitor and submit full permit boundaries in the DDS, just the planted areas, but you still need to have internal processes to mitigate the risk. Even if you have only a single shipment per year, you still have obligations under articles 10-12 that continue after your shipment has cleared customs.
We have the most comprehensive data on palm oil to support you in those additional obligations, with price tiers designed to work for companies big or small. Reach out to us info@maphubs.com today for a demo and free trial.
