Palmoil.io Newsletter - July/August 2025
Palmoil.io just launched Landscape Dashboards for Sumatra’s protected areas, expanded global coverage, added NDPE & DCF Plot Reports, and is supporting Aceh’s sustainable palm oil roadmap. Plus, new Portfolio list features make tracking even easier!

What’s new?
New Landscape Dashboards (Sumatra)

Palmoil.io has just launched a new feature called Landscape Dashboards. This new page shows deforestation alerts for important protected areas. The first landscapes are in Sumatra, such as Bukit Tigapuluh National Park, the Leuser Ecosystem, Rawa Singkil Wildlife Reserve, Kerinci Seblat National Park, and Tesso Nilo National Park. The dashboards give you detailed information just like other Palmoil.io dashboards, but they focus on specific parks, reserves, and protected areas, making it easier to monitor risks and deforestation coming from those places. This helps subscribers see deforestation problems inside these natural parks and understand if palm oil activity is happening close to endangered areas. More landscapes will be added soon.
More Countries in Jurisdictional Landscape Dashboard
Next month, we will be adding more countries to the Jurisdictional Landscape Dashboard. You can view protected areas and deforestation alerts not only in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand, but also in Papua New Guinea, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, and Guatemala. This means subscribers can monitor risks in more parts of the world. You will be able to see mills, plots, grievances, and trace supply chains in these countries.
NDPE & DCF Plot Reports Now Available in Plot Check Pro

We are excited to share that our Plot Check Pro tool now includes NDPE & DCF Plot Reports. Just like our Risk Insight Reports, these can be downloaded for your own records and use. Each report provides a Palmoil.io risk rating, detailed deforestation and DCF analysis including timelines and percentages, and legal checks covering protected areas, grievances, and indigenous land status. You’ll also find complete plot information such as coordinates, location, and supply chain data, along with a map showing forest cover, deforestation areas, and peat loss. This addition makes it easier than ever to track NDPE compliance and assess plot risk at a glance.
Supporting Aceh’s Sustainable Palm Oil Road Map

A couple of weeks ago, Leo (CEO & Founder) and Sofi (Senior Data Analyst) attended the launch of Aceh’s Sustainable Palm Oil Roadmap in Banda Aceh. This event marked the start of a collaborative effort to balance livelihoods with forest and biodiversity protection in Indonesia’s most critical ecosystems.
At the heart of this initiative is the newly formed Project Management Unit (PMU), tasked with coordinating monitoring, enforcement, and stakeholder engagement. Palmoil.io is equipping the PMU with jurisdictional dashboards, monthly forest alerts, risk insights, grievance tracking, and case management tools to strengthen accountability and accelerate responses to deforestation, including clearances in Rawa Singkil, one of the last refuges for Sumatran orangutans. While still in its early stages, the Roadmap represents an important opportunity to demonstrate that sustainable palm oil production is possible in Aceh’s globally significant ecosystem. What’s coming up?
West Africa Coming to Jurisdictional Landscape Dashboard
We will soon add West Africa to the Jurisdictional Landscape Dashboard. This means you will be able to explore protected areas and monitor deforestation in countries like Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, and Nigeria.

Meet the Team
Citra, Communications Specialist

With a background in Diplomacy and International Relations and years of experience in the human rights movement, Citra brings a different perspective to the team. Before joining us, she worked with organizations like Center for Indonesian Policy Studies and was involved with numerous grassroots communities where she used her voice to fight discrimination and push for social justice in Indonesia.
Citra admits she had no previous experience in palm oil or mapping when she started, unlike many of her teammates. But her passion for people and stories made the work instantly meaningful to her. “I tend to look beyond the numbers and statistics,” she says. “I’m more interested in the narrative and the people behind them. I don’t think that’s a bad thing, sometimes charts and tables need context.”
For Citra, one of the most exciting parts of the job is being hands-on during conferences and events, handling logistics, working with vendors, setting up booths, and proudly representing the team’s work. “It’s always fun when you get to talk to people who are genuinely excited about what we do,” she shares.
Her favorite part of the job? Writing about it. As the voice behind our monthly updates, Citra gets an early look at new features and milestones across the company. “It makes me prouder every time I get to write about the team’s hard work,” she says. She also loves to plan, both at work and in her personal life, especially when coordinating visits from Leo and Kris.
A fun fact: Citra can’t sleep when it’s too quiet (so no complete silence, please!).
For anyone looking for recommendations, she’s currently hooked on Amy Poehler’s “Good Hang” podcast and suggests checking out The Equalizer series starring Queen Latifah.

New Portfolio Lists Features
New Portfolio Lists Features
You can now create Portfolio lists for jurisdictions, and you can even upload your own CSV files. We’ve also updated the Portfolios page with a new design. Instead of cards, it now shows a table where everything is easier to see. You can also rename your lists anytime, and you can delete a list directly from the table without opening it. This saves a lot of time and makes the page easier to use.
