What’s new?
Palmoil.io EUDR page is live!
Guess what? Palmoil.io now has a page dedicated to the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) 🥳. Simply go to https://www.palmoil.io/eudr, and you’ll see that we explain what the EUDR is, what is required for companies to do, and how Palmoil.io can help you prepare whether you are a refiner, trader or buyer. Call it a one-stop place to know absolutely everything that you need to help out with your preparation for the EUDR. We analyze your plots for deforestation, trace them to your supply chain, and monitor legality risks.
Whether you are a major palm producer or a smallholder association, Palmoil.io has EUDR monitoring packages tailored to your needs and budget. Contact us today by sending a message on our “Contact Us” chat box located at the bottom right of your screen or via Whatsapp at +1 917-999-5192
And that's a wrap for Palmoil.io's first ever webinar
We would also like to thank each and every one of you who participated in our very first webinar 🙏. Your support has been highly appreciated by the team here at Palmoil.io. We are very grateful to our esteemed panelists, Perrine Fournier from Fern, Tobias Zobel from BASF, and Pak Darto from SPKS. Our panelists offered their thoughts on implementing the EUDR, particularly thorny issues such as how to ensure smallholders are mapped, how regulatory authorities may interpret the regulation differently, and clarifying the meaning of the word, "plot".
For our first virtual event, we are warmed by your enthusiasm and hope to host more in the coming months. We welcome any ideas or suggestions as to what topics we should focus on next. If you happen to miss the webinar, fear not! You can always catch the recording of “Politics, Plots, and Smallholders: The Palm Oil Industry and The EU Deforestation Regulation” at https://app.livestorm.co/p/f81086a1-9f3e-4afd-bdf4-67e583faead7 or click the “Events” tab on our Palmoil.io site.
Palmoil.io goes to Brussels
Our Co-founder and Software Engineer, Kristofor Carle and Data Analyst, Cholida Sofi, attended the Land & Carbon Lab's 2023 Summit in Brussels. The conference was a chance to meet people alike who work with data and technology. Kris and Sofi had many interesting conversations, about new projects and datasets for mapping forests, carbon, plots and smallholders and more. We hope to include some of them in Palmoil.io soon. As well as stimulating talks from the panelist sessions ranging from forestry, restoration, land and water management to political conversations notably about the future of EU Deforestation Regulation and its effects towards the different commodities, including Palm Oil. And a big thank you to WRI for inviting us to participate!
What’s coming up?
Tree Cover Loss data update on Palmoil.io
Good news! In July, we are adding the 2022 Tree Cover Loss data (from UMD GLAD and Global Forest Watch) to Palmoil.io. It will give us another data point for EUDR risk and we do plan to update our Risk Insights with any 2022 cases that we did not previously capture in our RADD alert based reporting. We will filter the 2021 and 2022 tree cover loss data to remove any known plantations as of 2020 that helps remove replanting and from other commodities. Stay tuned for this exciting update.
Tip of the month
Send news articles for our news collection
Our Palmoil.io subscribers already know that we collect news stories on our dashboard. We collect news stories on deforestation, human rights violations, to corruption and many more. We then link them to the companies in our database and filter them according to the issues. It’s been nice to hear that this news collection has been of help for our NGO users and our business subscribers in their line of work. But did you know that there’s a way that you can help us out? You are more than welcome to submit news articles to Palmoil.io, simply by clicking the link at the top of the “News” dashboard. Not only can you send us news, but also reports, press releases and academic papers. Looking forward to seeing your submissions, and we appreciate the support in improving our news collection.

Another way to get those KML files on the go
Did you know that you can easily download KML files of our Risk Insights simply by scrolling over to the KML section on the Risk Insights Dashboard on Palmoil.io? We hope this feature will improve your time navigating on Palmoil.io and help you analyze data more quickly. Keep that in mind when you need to download many files, so you no longer need to open each and every Risk Insight report.
